BOSTON, MA — Dorchester native, seventeen-year-old Jared Hill first started coming to Boys & Girls Clubs of Dorchester at the age of six. The leadership and sense of responsibility he saw in staff members when he was younger made Jared sure that one day he wanted to take on the same kind of role.
Today, Jared works as a junior staff member leading the music council. He helps the members who pass through the music room with many different things ranging from instrument instruction, homework help, or even assisting fellow teens with recording an album for their AP Literature assignment.
Jared describes how the opportunity to be creative and explore different interests is available in every department of the Club. He explains how it was through these programs and the support of the staff that he realized how much he enjoys the sense of the creation and that it inspired him to now pursue a career in Architectural Design as he begins to apply to colleges.
Jared states, “All of the resources we have here at the Club really change people and most importantly, changes what people see in themselves. This place is special; to me it’s like a family.”
