New England Women’s Leadership Awards!
This year’s anniversary event took place on May 9th at the World Trade Center in Boston and honored the following three remarkable women for their accomplishments both professionally and personally.
- Carmen M. Ortiz - United States Attorney
- Diane B. Patrick, Esq. - First Lady of Massachusetts
- Margaret Blood - Founder and President, Mil Milagros, Inc. and Founder, Strategies for Children
Lisa Hughes of WBZ-TV was the event emcee and Joannie Jaxtimer, Regional Executive, BNY Mellon was the event chair.

Since 1992, NEWLA has honored 104 women throughout New England for their accomplishments in athletics, business, education, health and human services, politics and more. The event was designed to provide powerful role models for the members of Boys & Girls Clubs of Dorchester.
